Fortieth birthdays are momentous occasions – particularly in the lifetime of magazines. Resurgence was the first environmental magazine in the UK and is internationally renowned and valued by politicians, policymakers, business leaders, thinkers and writers alike. Satish Kumar has been the editor for over 30 years. He was a Jain monk in India, and between 1962 and 1964 undertook a pilgrimage for peace, walking 8,000 miles from India to America, carrying no money in his pockets. Satish also co-founded the London School of Non-violence, in collaboration with Christian Action. Satish’s philosophy and respect for all beings permeates Resurgence magazine. Its pages are filled with inspirational articles and photographs, and recent contributors include James Lovelock, Dr Rowan Williams, Tony Juniper, Anita Roddick and Deepak Chopra.
