Rioja Gran Reserva 1989, Viña Muriel

This wine is made from grapes selected from vineyards ranging from 30 to 70 years of age. The mature vines provide small yields of intensely flavoured fruit, providing a solid basis for the extended ageing this style requires. A mellow ruby colour tinged with caramel. The nose has wonderful complexity, combining subtle herb and spice notes with the leathery dried fig fruit. Silky on the palate, with an enduring finish. Drink with hard cheeses, black olives, or slow-roasted pork or lamb.
