When we tasted at this most highly-regarded Châteauneuf-du-Pape estate in Bédarrides this summer, we realised just how dynamic the brothers Brunier are. No sitting back and expecting their 'other' wines to bask in VT's reflected glory. Daniel and Frédéric Brunier continue to hone and polish even their most junior Vin de Pays, and have now decided to split the production of their Gigondas Les Pallières into two different cuvées - finding the terrain so completely different within this vineyard, that it supported two entirely different styles of wine. We chose Les Pallières over the Terrasse du Diable for its greater definition and freshness. Unlike many Châteauneuf estates, the brothers choose to declassify their young vine production as a separate entity in order to maximise the quality of their main wine.
