Eat Meat On Monday

Eat Meat On MondayToday, a new campaign was launched with the aim of encouraging us to not eat meat on a Monday. This new Meat Free Monday campaign is backed by high profile celebrities including Sir Paul McCartney, Chris Martin and Sheryl Crow amongst others.

Now, I am sure I am not the only person who may think that Macca has not really thought this through. I mean, it is OK to say we should not eat meat (or reduce our meat intake) in an effort to tackle climate change, but I think if Sir Paul wanted to set an example to help reduce carbon emissions, he may want to first take stock of his own lifestyle before preaching to anyone else.

How about making a pledge to give up flying for instance? Of course Paul McCartney woud never do this would he? How would he be able to fly back and forth between the UK and USA whenever he wishes, or jet around the globe as many of us ordinary people can never do. So, how about it Paul? Why not make a sacrifice to your own lifestyle, to really show us how we can cut down on our carbon emissions and make a difference and possibly help to slow down climate change.

With this in mind, we thought it would be a good idea to actually make Monday the day when you can eat meat. Whatever your meat you prefer, whether it be steak, pork, chicken, lamb, burgers or sausages, today and every Monday why not buy some meat, take it home, cook it and eat it. You can compare the prices of meat and other food with mySupermarket.
Or you can find a restaurant or takeaway near you by entering your postcode into this online service from Just-Eat.
Better still, why not Support your local butcher and make Monday the day when you do actually eat meat.
