About Us

www.askshop.co.uk was initially created as a directory of our favourite UK online retailers. When we began, we included a few stores which we had ourselves used to order items online, and which we found to be reliable and offered good value prices. Gradually, we added more UK shops to our store directory – stores which offered a range of products at competitive prices and which we found to give their customers a safe and secure ordering system, and which delivered the customer orders quickly and reliably, as well as having returns policies which were praised by their users.

A few months later, we thought it would also be a good service to our visitors if they could view the products available from the stores in our store directory, and compare prices between various retailers if they so wished. To implement this, we added a product search and categorisation which was supplied by a third party. This initially worked quite well, but as our visitor numbers increased we found this was becoming unreliable and we took the decision to create our own product search facility.

Now, the shopping section and product search on www.askshop.co.uk includes 2,768,429 products from 492 UK retailers. Although we do not actually sell any of the products featured on our site, once a visitor has found a product which they like, we show the price and where to buy it from. By following the links to these products, our users will be directed to the relevant retailer's website, where they can continue browsing or purchase any item safely and securely.
